Iain specialises in pensions law and since qualification in 1976, has built a comprehensive understanding of all pensions related issues.
Iain is Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in pensions law and:
- He is a founder Member of and founder Chairman of the Scottish Group of the Association of Pension Lawyers.
- is a local member of the Scottish Group of the Pensions Management Institute;
- is Chairman of the Law Society of Scotland Pensions Law Sub-committee;
- author of the only Scottish works on pensions law;
- convener of the Law Society of Scotland Pensions Specialisation Accreditation Panel.
Iain has acted for the Scottish employees of the Mirror Group in the aftermath of the Maxwell Pensions scandal and is acting in relation to the Blyth & Blyth Pension Scheme and the Motherwell Bridge Group Pension Plan.
Other clients include Standard Life Staff Pension Scheme, Hewden Stuart Pension Scheme, Scottish Leather Group Pension Schemes, Aseo Plc Final Salary Pension Plan, the Law Society of Scotland Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme, Rosyth Royal Dockyard Pension Scheme and Polaroid (UK) Pension Fund. Iain also acts for @SIPP.
Independent research for Chambers UK 2007 described Iain as "one of the most technically able and respected pensions lawyers in Scotland".
