Iain is consistently recognised as a leading Scottish property lawyer in independent surveys of the Legal Profession, including Legal 500 and Chambers.
He has extensive experience in all areas of commercial property and his client base includes a variety of significant investors, developers and occupiers of property in Scotland. He is particularly well known for his work in the retail sector where he has considerable experience representing both owners and occupiers, including some of the largest and best known UK and International retailers who operate in Scotland.
Iain is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in commercial leasing and is a member of the British Council of Shopping Centres. He is also an occasional speaker on property law issues at Law Society and other conferences.
Notable recent transactions include representing ING in October 2004 in its £79M purchase of the Rivergate Shopping Centre, Irvine (as part of a larger £380M portfolio acquisition), representing J Sainsbury in a proposed major new store acquisition in Edinburgh and advising Falkirk Football Club in relation to the development of its new Stadium.
Independent research for Chambers UK 2004 commented that Iain is "legal architect" and a "leading operator" in the development and retail sectors.
