Gordon has been a partner in the firm's private client department since 1980 and is head of the department.
Gordon specialises in care of the individual including Powers of Attorney, investments, wills, trusts, executries, inheritance tax planning and guardianships, public trusts and other trusts and charities. He is a member inter alia of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, the Society of Writers to H M Signet and the International Bar Association.
Comfortable in Italian and with a knowledge of French and Spanish, Gordon is a member of the European Commission's Group of Experts in international succession law PRM III / IV; he wrote the Scottish section of the International Bar Association's International Dictionary of Succession Terms and enjoys dealing with foreign aspects of succession practice. He takes a particular interest in helping clients prepare for later life through forward planning and the use of Trusts and is a member of the Law Society of Scotland's Succession Committee.
Independent research for Chambers UK 2007 commented that Gordon is "experienced and personable: he builds great client relationships".
