Geoff leads our Retail Estate Finance team which also work closely with the Banking and Finance team. Geoff is also one of our more experienced partners in our Commercial Real Estate Department.
He has many years of wide ranging experience in a variety of commercial property sectors including advising:
- various institutional investor clients;
- various private equity investor funds;
- various household named Banks and other niche lenders;
- various insolvency practices dealing with distressed assets; and
- specifically on a number of BPRA deals, working closely with the BPRA team on a variety of commercial projects and sectors.
Geoff not only acts for some of the more well known property / investment / development clients and funders alike but also prides himself on the breadth and depth of his varied client base from smaller private equity investors through to the Plcs in the Real Estate market. His clients include – The Crosslane Group, Safe Harbor Capital Partners, Alpha Real Capital, Nationwide, Clydesdale Bank plc, Henry Boot Developments plc, Santander, Coop Bank and HKI Partnership. Other major Real Estate clients and Funds include The Lear Group, Apex Hi Real Estate Fund and Close Brothers.
He has a strong reputation in the commercial property market for being a personable, pragmatic, commercial and proactive individual. This pragmatism is borne out of his varied legal experience and historical non legal experience. Geoff spent many years in commercial and marketing management with Unilever in London and Smithkline Beecham. His wider commercial experience and expertise greatly assists in the delivery of good commercial solutions in legal transactions.
Geoff enjoys supporting Partick Thistle Football Club (but then someone has to) and, as a family man, trying to be hands on with his 3 children. He also thrives in the social elements connected with the job. Geoff enjoys the interaction with clients that strengthens his relationships and understanding of their needs. This is critical in delivering the all important client solutions in commercial property transactions.
