Geoff is a Partner in our Real Estate Department and also our Property Finance Team. He is based in Glasgow but works between our Glasgow and Edinburgh offices, depending on the client or transaction requirements. He has many years of wide ranging experience in commercial property matters including advising investor and lending clients alike on the Scottish aspects of major cross-border transactions. He also has very good experience on working in various insolvency scenarios from a real estate perspective including various administrative scenarios. His resi and commercial development legal practice continues to develop.
Geoff not only acts for some of the more well known property / investment / development clients and funders alike but also prides himself on the breadth and depth of his varied client base from smaller private equity investors through to the Plcs in the Real Estate market. His impressive client list not only includes well known Plcs such as:
- Nationwide
- Clydesdale Bank plc
- Henry Boot Developments plc
- Santander
- HKI Partnership
but also other major Real Estate clients and Funds such as:
- The Lear Group
- MacCafferty Asset Management
- Close Brothers
He has a strong reputation in the commercial property market for being a personable, pragmatic, commercial and proactive individual. Where required, he can readily deliver solutions in the transactional work that he undertakes for clients. This pragmatism is borne out of his varied legal experience and historical non legal experience. Geoff spent many years in commercial management/marketing management with Unilever in London and Smithkline Beecham. His wider commercial experience and expertise greatly assists in the delivery of good commercial solutions in legal transactions.
Geoff enjoys supporting Partick Thistle Football Club (but then someone has to) and, as a family man, trying to be hands on with his 3 children. He also thrives in the social elements connected with the job. Geoff enjoys the interaction with clients that strengthens his relationships and understanding of their needs. This is critical in delivering the all important client solutions in commercial property transactions.
