As Managing Partner, Derek's role is to drive the business forward and ensure the consistent delivery of high quality services to our clients.
Before being appointed to Managing Partner in 2004, Derek led the firm’s Banking and Property Finance Group. He is still a member of that Group and his client practice is principally in the field of banking and finance law where he has considerable experience and expertise. Derek regularly advises clients in relation to property and acquisition finance transactions. In addition, he is frequently involved in advising on cross border securitisation transactions.
Derek’s practice also includes advising on corporate finance and commercial transactions. He has recently worked on several joint ventures and schemes of arrangement.
Derek is a member of the Company Law Sub-Committee of the Law Society of Scotland, and is company secretary of Glasgow Opportunities. He is also a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales, having spent the first eight years of his career working in the City of London.
