Alan is a Solicitor Advocate and Accredited as a Specialist in employment law by The Law Society of Scotland and is one of the three partners dedicated to employment law within Biggart Baillie. He is also head of the dispute management department.
Alan has extensive advocacy experience at all levels on behalf of employers. He appears regularly before Employment Tribunals, Appeal Tribunals and the Superior Courts utilising his Solicitor Advocate qualification to provide a seamless one-stop shop when it comes to representation. We do not believe in the need for Advocates/Barristers where we have our own in house advocacy experts. This saves our clients expense and provides a more effective and direct service.
Alan is also a seasoned advisor, used to tough negotiations and giving the right advice as and when required. He has negotiated in times of industrial strife such as strike action and utilises a “hands on” pragmatic approach to dispute resolution.
Alan also regularly advises HR professionals and employers on policies, procedures, contracts, discipline, TUPE, trade unions, and grievances. He regularly provides training, seminars and workshops to clients.
