As an Associate within the Commercial Property department, Chris has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial property. Chris works principally in Biggart Baillie's market leading retail property team, and specialises in lease negotiations for retail occupiers, dealing with shopping centre, high street and out of town acquisitions. Chris acts for a wide range of retail clients including Halfords, Xile Clothing, G-Star and Card Factory, in the acquisition, management and disposal of their Scottish property portfolios.
Chris also has experience on the landlord side of the fence, having acted for Hammerson plc in the acquisition of Silverburn Shopping Centre, Glasgow and their ongoing management thereof.
In addition, he frequently deals with investment property transactions for a variety of clients and he has also had involvement in a number of major corporate deals, advising on property aspects. He recently provided Scottish property advice in relation to a high profile UK Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA), and also has experience in dealing with property aspects of insolvency situations.
Chris has also been the principal operational contact for Local Shopping REIT since 2005, in their ongoing acquisition and management of a high quantity of Scottish retail premises as part of a growing portfolio in the United Kingdom, which work includes dealing with cross border aspects, security work and various management matters.
Chris has a strong business development focus which includes manning the firm’s Retail_BBLaw twitter account. Away from the office, Chris enjoys golf, rugby, football and running.
