New Minimum Wage Rates announced today from BERR
The National Minimum Wage rates which will apply from 1 October 2008 were announced today. These are as follows:-
For workers aged 22 and over - £5.73 per hour (currently £5.52);
For workers aged 18-21 - £4.77 per hour (currently £4.60); and
For workers aged 16 and 17 - £3.53 (currently £3.40).
Notably, the increases for 2008 are much less than the previous rises in October 2007, and roughly match the current rate of inflation.
