Employment Tribunal Claims Down
15th August 2007
ACAS has recently issued its annual report which confirms that the number of Employment Tribunal applications lodged in the period from 1 April 2006 to 31 March 2007 has dropped in comparison to the previous year.
The initial ACAS report suggested that there had been a considerable drop however, the figures failed to properly record the fact that there was an increase in the number of Equal Pay claims rather than a decrease as they had initially reported. Unfair Dismissal continues to be the most common basis of claims.
Despite predictions to the contrary, there have only been a small number of claims relating to Age Discrimination. During the period only 739 Age Discrimination related claims have been lodged.
