Connaught Collapse may trigger procurement issues
Connaught group which was a major player in the social housing arena was placed in administration on 8th September 2010. It is likely to have a number of contracts in the social housing sector which were subject to the public procurement rules. Contractors looking to take over these contracts may find that these rules create issues in the smooth transfer of contracts, and local authorities who are seeking the speedy replacement of the contractor may also have to take account of procurements rules to ensure that the award of contracts complies with the procurement procedure. A shortened procurement procedure may be possible if the detailed requirements of the procurement rules are properly adhered to.
