Historic Scotland's Consultation on Historic Battlefields

Thursday, August 07, 2008

by Martin Sales

Historic Scotland closed its Consultation on a proposed Scottish Historic Environment Policy (SHEP) for Historic Battlefields on 25 July 2008.  The Consultation document sought responses to the Scottish Ministers’ proposed policies for “significant” historic battlefields including identification and protection, management of development and change within them and implementation of those policies.

Next steps

Those Consultation responses that can be made public will be available on the Scottish Government and Historic Scotland websites from 29 August 2008 and Historic Scotland aim to issue a summary and analysis of all responses on or by 17 October 2008.  It is anticipated that the SHEP will be produced in its final form on or around April 2009.
