Wednesday, May 14, 2008

The directors of @sipp plc are delighted to announce the appointment of Iain Talman to the Board of the Company, in the position of non-executive director. This builds on Iain’s previous role, as a non-executive director of @sipp (Pension Trustees) Limited, and recognises the significant contribution that he has made in that role, over the past six years. Iain Talman formally joined the plc Board on 18 March 2008.

In addition to his pensions expertise, this key strategic appointment recognises Iain’s wider business experience which will be invaluable as the business continues to grow within an evolving marketplace.

Iain is head of the Pensions Department with commercial law firm Biggart Baillie LLP and is a nationally recognised expert in UK pensions law.

Iain has specialised in pensions law since 1975 and is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Pensions Law. Iain is author of the only Scottish works on pensions law, being the section on pension schemes in The Stair Memorial Encyclopaedia and the passage on pension schemes in Halliday’s Conveyancing Law and Practice.

Iain is currently a local member of the Scottish Group of the Pensions Management Institute; Chairman of the Law Society of Scotland Pensions Law Sub-Committee and is convener of the Law Society of Scotland Pensions Specialisation Accreditation Panel.

Gerry Daly, Chief Executive of @sipp plc commented, "It is very unusual for an operation of our scale to have ready access to such a highly regarded, specialist resource. On a personal note, Iain’s counsel has been invaluable since I joined the business in early 2006. I would like to thank Iain for his contribution to date and look forward to working with him in the future, as we move into a very exciting period for the business.”
